Waite Hoyt Acrylic on Canvas

Waite Hoyt Acrylic on Canvas

Beloved Hall of Famer Waite Hoyt won 237 regular season games and six more in the World Series during a 21-year big league career, and was the celebrated pitcher for the New York Yankees during the height of their 1920s glory. In 1954 he took up painting, working in oils and acrylics, studying with well-known artists and spending much time producing landscapes, seascapes, and still-lifes; as such he's a listed artist and is taken seriously for his craft. This is one of those wonderful landscapes, an acrylic capturing the silence of a snowy day from the rooftops in a small American city, most likely Cincinnati. It is in the original frame and matte from the 1950s, measures 20x24" and is signed in the lower right, Waite Hoyt.
