Walter Johnson Signed Burke Photo (4x6”)
A splendid vintage photo of Walter “Big Train” Johnson. Taken by famed sports photographer, George Burke (stamp on verso), the gentle nature of the greatest pitcher of all time is wonderfully represented in this soft black & white. Dressed in full Washington Senators uniform, the Big Train looks out onto the field of play, reflecting on his game plan. Best is the black ink signature which is dated by Johnson himself, “May 1938”: ‘Best Wishes to Stanley Gray - Walter Johnson.” Signature is a “9.5” out of a possible 10. Photo itself is EX-MT. Verso is stamped with George Burke’s official stamp and additionally labeled, “Walter Johnson.”
