Autographed Pasadena College Yearbooks (4) with Multi Jackie Robinson Signatures
From the personal collection of Jackie Robinson’s college teammate, Stan Gray, are these 4 Pasadena College yearbooks. Now, we all know that Jackie Robinson was a star athlete in more than one sport in college, and his photos are abound within these 4 yearbooks as a basketball, baseball, track, and football star. The pages are also heavily peppered with vintage Jackie Robinson signatures and inscriptions. Within these four yearbooks are scattered a total of 7 Jackie Robinson signatures, 2 signed as “Jack” and 5 signed as “Jack Robinson.” This includes two significant inscriptions to Stan Gray. One reads, “Here’s wishing a swell guy all the luck and happiness in the world. I really had a lot of fun playing with you last year and during the winter whenever we had a chance and I hope we will have a chance to play together again some other time. Sincerely, Jack Robinson.” The other one reads, “To the best second baseman and a swell guy - good luck and I hope to see you playing some big league ball soon. Jack Robinson.” His fine character and humble nature was apparent even at this young age and comes through in the inscriptions. Also pictured in these books is Jackie Robinson’s older brother, Mack Robinson who was a track star at Pasadena and member of the 1936 U.S. Olympic team. 3 of his signatures are dispersed among the 1936-37 books. One cover is VG-EX, others are EX to EX-MT. Contents are EX-MT to NRMT. A great look at the most important sports figure in history as a young amateur college sensation. His fine character and kind nature was apparent even at this young age.
