Whitey Ford Signed and Inscribed Photograph Archive from The Whitey Ford Collection (31)

Offered is a trove of Whitey Ford signed and inscribed photos. They come directly from the Ford family. The 8x10" photos are a mix of both black & white and color shots. Ed "Whitey" Ford was a MLB left-handed pitcher for 16 seasons, all with the New York Yankees. He won 236 games lifetime, losing only 106. Ford won the 1961 Cy Young Award. He was a key part of six World Series winners, had a 2.75 lifetime ERA, and is a Hall of Famer. Ford was frequently accused of doctoring or scuffing the baseball. He addressed those accusations. "I didn't begin cheating until late in my career when I needed a little something extra to survive," said Ford. "I didn't cheat in 1963 when I won 24 games. Well, maybe a little." Ford's great skill, clutch pitching, and intelligence earned him the nickname "The Chairman of the Board." The lot contains 15 signatures with a "HOF '74" inscription; 14 signatures signed "Ed 'Whitey" Ford with a "#16 HOF '74" inscription; and 2 signatures with an inscription reading "#16 HOF '74 Chairman of the Board." All of the signatures and inscriptions are boldly written in beautiful blue or black Sharpie.
