1864 Confederate Bearer Bond Loan with Coupons Attached
A thirty-year bond issued by “The Confederate States of America” on March 1, 1864 (matures 1894), the coupons are attached and payable to the bearer. There are 50 coupons each is signed by R.O Tyler and are dated 1870 through 1894. As the South lost the Civil War, the “Loan Authorized by the 1864 Act of Congress” was never paid as the Treasury of Richmond went bankrupt. The bond measures 23x17” and is in EX+ condition. In a 19th century frame, overall measures 35x31”.
