1873 A. G. Spalding Cabinet Photo
A mustached A.G. Spalding leans upon his left leg, hand on hip and cap at knee, full-uniformed with “Boston” across his chest, his countenance - not unlike many found in the cabinet photos of the late 1880’s - flat, expressionless, and without a view, in other words wholly unlike the man himself, whose contributions to, and influence upon, baseball were vast and visionary. Needless to say, a cabinet photo of the industrious pitcher is of great cultural value to any baseball enthusiast. The frame has some gold loss on back and measures 10x13”, while photo’s actual size cannot be determined as it is matted. Has “Boston 1873” in fountain pen and “A.G. Spalding Pitcher 1871 - 75” in pencil on back.
