1874 Canadian Championship Program with KKK
Artifact from the19th century Canadian baseball team the Guelph Maple Leafs, who dominated all competition. This May 1, 1874 sheet headed "Rules and Regulations Governing the Base Ball Championship of the Dominion apparently was used as the official program. On the back of the page 2 are hand-written boxscores of two games -- one of which involved a "Ku Klux Klan" team! Happily, Guelph beat the Klanners 13-4, though the KKK may have had trouble seeing the ball through their hoods. The light brown 24 x 30" document is NRMT. A reproduction Guelph team picture and other reference pieces are included for verification purposes.
