1880s-'90s Spalding Ring Bat With Red Painted Ring Players League
While there is no direct lineage to the players league, this 1890s-era Spalding ring bat does have a period coat of red paint at the end, an attribute that the players and league members displayed. Dipping the tip into red paint can be referenced in the John Montgomery Ward autobiography. This bat has a nice remnant of weathered red paint that extends up the barrel. The bat itself features a tremendous patina with excellent markings There are some dents and dings to the barrel, but it should display quite nicely. It measures a shade longer than 34" and is certainly a professional quality item.
