1890’s Webbed Thumb Baseball Glove
One of the first incarations of the modern day mitt was this 19th century relic. The webbed thumb workmen's glove was part of an effort to stop the sting when catching a baseball, but still allowed the fielder to feel like he was catching it barehanded. Sporting five separate fingers with webbing connecting the thumb to the index, this marvelous brown leather mitt was the finest the era had to offer. The gold button-backed beauty has maintained its tight stitching and soft supple leather. Overall EX.
