1905 George Wright Hand Hammered Copper Perpetual Golf Trophy
The George Washington of baseball. He was the first batter in National League history, and the first shortstop ever for the Cincinnati Red Stockings. George Wright was a baseball pioneer and proved his worth in other sports by claiming this perpetual golf trophy with his partner, Howard B. Andrews... the first folks to win it. In high arts and crafts style, the hand hammered copper is the ultimate in mission style craftsmanship. Labor Day Cup is 6" high and was given to the pair on September 4, 1905, and then - according to the inscription - to other winners in successive years.
