1908 World Series Program at Chicago
And now, presenting a program which hasn’t been seen in 95 years! This rare treasure is the only 1908 World Series program known to exist. This was a most historically significant Fall Classic, the rematch between the Chicago Cubs and the Detroit Tigers, marking the last time the Cubs would boast the title, "World Champs." The contest was built up to titanic proportions by the press, the Tigers having been swiftly swept by the Cubs in 5 Games the year previous. For the Cubs, it was their 3rd consecutive postseason appearance. The World Series finale in Detroit drew the smallest crowd in Series history with 6,210 fans in the stands. This was due to the fact that the Tigers had been perennial losers, performing badly in the post season. Most importantly, the Chicago Cubs had established themselves as the first official “dynasty” in baseball history. This sensational find from the fourth official World Series tradition has been preserved in unbelievable condition, with front cover appearing NRMT and only slight scrapbook residue on the back. Most importantly, no paper loss anywhere. Peach colored cover is simply adorned and cost was 10 cents.
