Circa 1908 Chicago Cubs Mounted Photo w/ Bear (8x10")

Circa 1908 Chicago Cubs Mounted Photo w/ Bear (8x10")

Simply stated, this is the finest baseball team photo you can ever hope to find. It is the Chicago Cubs, circa 1908, shown in all their glory, displaying technical and visual perfection in terms of contrast, positioning, and photographic vision on the part of the Glor Lawrence Co. (whose cartouche was developed with the photo in the lower left corner). The presence of Chicago Hall of Fame legends Tinker, Evers & Chance, along with Sheckard, Slagle, Zimmerman, Lundgren, Durbin, Howard, Steinfeldt, Overall & Hofman, plus the team mascot (Polar Bear) in the middle of it all, makes this the most highly desirable Cubs photo in history. The exceptional shot was snapped just before a game in Wrigley Field. The Cubs' "Polar Brother" managed to attract almost as much attention as the game itself, and after the Cubs' won in the 11th inning, the bear rushed onto the field and hugged Mordecai Brown (pitcher) then rolled all over the field. He was one of the earliest incanations of a mascot in baseball. Most worthy of mention is the NRMT condition in which this fabulous photo, mounted on thick cardboard (13x11”) is presented. With virtually no toning, and absolutely no damage, owning crisp corners and perfect white borders, it just doesn’t get any better.
