1909 Indianapolis Motor Speedway Cigar Box

1909 Indianapolis Motor Speedway Cigar Box

An unusual artifact, this 6x7x16" cigar box from Indianapolis Motor Speedway dates from the Brickyard's inaugural year of 1909. The lid flips up and the front flap opens to read "Indianapolis Motor Speedway, 5 for 10 cents," and the same label is shown throughout the box on insides and top. Under the lid is a photo of the track with "Indianapolis Motor Speedway" title, and one strap remains on the right to keep the top upright for display. Inside paper has some tearing with majority on bottom, but does not effect display quality. "Olaro" is on the right side of the box and when closed, the wood lid is slightly warped upward.
