1915 Joe Jackson Throwing Contest Award

1915 Joe Jackson Throwing Contest Award

The only Joe Jackson award ever offered. In eerie black cardboard, a perfect irony to the White Sox that soon became "Black." Sox team logo handpainted in white reads: "Presented to Joe Jackson for the longest throw in heaving contest between All Stars and Boston Red Sox." As it shows, he bested the incredible trio of Harry Hooper, Duffy Lewis and Tris Speaker along with "Walker" (Tillie?). Affixed to page with tape at top, has small paper loss in black and measures 6" x 4 1/4". This was quite an All Star Game with a player of Jackson's caliber versus a young Babe Ruth and the World Champion Boston Red Sox trio of Hooper-Lewis-Speaker. Ironically, this is a "Throwing Contest" won by the man whose "throwing" of the 1919 World Series sadly defines him.
