1920's Everlast Basketball Trophy

1920's Everlast Basketball Trophy

This is a great example of a very early basketball trophy. It consists of a circular base with a square mounted platform bearing the Everlast logo, with the words "SPTS MFG CO" above and "NEW YORK" below. The statue depicts a man (in what looks to be a collared, long-sleeved shirt holding a basketball above his head. As a sign of the time, the slots for the ball's laces - which were standard at the time - are clearly visible. The trophy stands 12.5", is made of solid metal weighing approximately six pounds, and has a great patina. A great item reminiscent of the days of the peach basket!
