1928 Bustin' Babes & Larrupin Lou's Photographs (2)

1928 Bustin' Babes & Larrupin Lou's Photographs (2)

Extremely unique pair of photographs show Babe Ruth in his “Bustin’ Babes” uniform and Lou Gehrig in his “Larrupin’ Lou’s” uniform. Following the 1927 season, Ruth & Gehrig embarked on their famous 2-team barnstorming tour. A largely profitable trip, it is said that Lou Gehrig earned more on the barnstorming trip than he made while playing for the Yankees. Unfortunately, the trip would also be the beginning of the end for the friendship between the two most feared hitters in the Majors. Offered are a couple of rare photos, showing the two posed together (one with a young lady in between, willfully holding a bouquet of flowers in each hand). The tension between the two is almost visible in one photo, although Gehrig is smiling. The expression on Ruth’s face is one of determined stolidity, although he does show a markedly different expression in the photo with the young lady (wink, wink). These original vintage photos are EX-MT with very little toning and virtually no damage.
