1930s-50s Science Fiction & Fantasy Original Illustration Art Collection
Sunning pieces from the collection of the great Forrest Ackerman. These were used in publication of many of the great pulp and other magazines of the 1930s-50s. Several are by the great Albert Nuetzell who not only did covers for many science fiction books and paperbacks but also did many of the early <i>Famous Monsters of Filmland</i>. Includes: “Nude Woman on Dragon” by Albert Nuetzell. Wonderful 22x14” painting is three-dimensional with the woman being a separate piece. Mixed medium on board is 22x14. VG. 2) “Butterfly Creature” by Albert Nuetzell. Marvelous sci-fi mixed medium on board is 17.75x12”. Same 3D effect as the previous piece. Missing corner o/w VG. 3) “Space Jitterbugs” by Albert Nuetzell. 1940s of the period piece with great image of two bobby soxers going at it. 20x14” acrylic on board is gorgeous. Chip at top o/w EX. Great colors. 4) Circa 1950 Fantasy painting by Neil Austin. Sword wielding warrior in acrylic on board looks to be an <i>Analog Science Fiction</i> cover. 15x12” with Ackerman publishing notes on verso. EX. 5) 1930s Buck Rogers (?) by Jayem Wilcox who did work for <i>Weird Tales</i> in the 1930s. Pen & ink has the look of the 25th century spaceman. Inner pulp magazine page art. VG+. 6)
