1930s "Nipper" RCA Victor Mascot Larger Than Life Store Display Advertising Statue (36" tall)
Still seeking His Master's Voice, this beautiful rendition of the RCA dog, Nipper, was made in the 1930s and was taken from an RCA Victor Store in Maryland in the 1970s. Larger than life, this precious pup measures 36" tall and approximately 1' wide. Because it is made of somewhat delicate papier mache, there are years of old touch-ups to the body here and there but nothing of great concern, and there is some cracking but it remains solid, the biggest one of its kind that we have seen. The original His Master's Voice painting was created by artist Francis Barraud in the 1890s, establishing the Nipper character. Around the time this statue was created, RCA took over Victor (in 1929), and was also instrumental in the creation of EMI in 1931.
