John Lennon Scandal Evening Standard Advertising Poster

John Lennon Scandal Evening Standard Advertising Poster

It was the interview that set off a firestorm of controversy. John Lennon of the Beatles told good friend and London Evening Standard reporter Maureen Cleave in a candid 1966 interview that "Christianity will go... We're more popular than Jesus now. I don't know which will go first, rock 'n' roll or Christianity." Despite the fierce reaction to the sacrilegious comments, Christianity outlasted the Fab Four, who broke up less than four years after John's comments. This poster measuring 18.5" x 30" recalls that famous - or infamous - piece. There is light creasing but otherwise appears EX.
