1939 Babe Siebert Drowned Telegram and Photo

1939 Babe Siebert Drowned Telegram and Photo

One of the best defensemen of his era, Earl Siebert was an NHL All Star with the Montreal Canadiens known as a great shot blocker and rugged player. Siebert retired as a player after the 1938-39 season, and tragically drowned in August 1939 just before assuming the coaching duties of the Montreal team. This Canadian National Telegraph and Cable Company telegram was sent to Babe Siebert's mistress the afternoon he died. The telegram has both vertical and horizontal folds throughout, the lower left corner is torn off and missing, otherwise in GD condition. Accompanying the photo is a 3 1/2" x 5" black and white photo of Babe Siebert with two men and two women swimming in the lake in which he drowned. The photo is EX.
