1939 Babe Siebert Signed Handwritten Letter

1939 Babe Siebert Signed Handwritten Letter

Haunting letter written by Babe Siebert and dated May 12, 1939, just 3 months before his accidental drowning on the eve of his debut as coach of the Canadiens. The letter, which begins "Hello Art", reads: "Hope you have been getting along OK, and by the way, how are the fillies up there. No lies. Might go up to the mountains tomorrow and so a bit of fishing. Ice disappeared a few days ago." He concludes the letter, "Must run along now as Audry wants to go. Babe." Given his drowning while on vacation in the mountains, there's a bittersweet ring to these words. The writing and signature in pencil are NRMT on a plain 6 1/4 x 10 1/16" sheet which is EX with 2 fold marks.
