1940 Detroit Tigers Presentational Championship Silver Tray

1940 Detroit Tigers Presentational Championship Silver Tray

The 1940 Detroit Tigers captured the American League pennant before falling to the Cincinnati Reds in a seven-game World Series. This elegant silver tray was the prize presented to members of the franchise for the rare accomplishment of unseating the New York Yankees from their traditional position atop the league. A portrait of team owner Walter Briggs is underscored by engraved text reading "The Detroit Tigers, American League Champions, 1940, Presented By, The Baseball Citizens of Detroit." Facsimile signature of the team roster fill the background. The tray survives in remarkable EX-NRMT condition and measures 15x26," including the ornate handles.
