First Jewish Baseball Card - 1888 Reuben Levy S.F. Hess (N338)

First Jewish Baseball Card - 1888 Reuben Levy S.F. Hess (N338)

Rueben "Rube" Levy was among the earliest professional Jewish baseball players. He was a star in the California League playing for the Haverly Baseball Club of San Francisco. He was a very popular player in the early California League, so popular in fact that he had two different poses in the 1888 S.F. Hess California League Set (batting and fielding). Offered is the fielding pose, which has a super crisp sepia-toned image. The rounded corners are even and not distracting and finishes with a nice clean back. A rare opportunity to own among the first, if not the first Jewish baseball card.
