This enchanting gold charm was awarded to “Sugar” Ray Robinson for winning the Golden Gloves title as a lightweight in 1940, a 2” sculpture in the shape of a pair of boxing gloves, holding a diamond between the thumbs. . Just a year earlier, Robinson had won the title as a featherweight. A spectacular boxing relic, emanating from the Golden age of boxing, this marks the crucial point in Sugar Ray’s career - he would turn pro by the year’s end. Right glove with oval shaped plate on top, which is engraved, “The News Welfare Assn. inc. Golden Gloves, 1940, 135 lbs., open.” In fabulous, EX-MT condition. Came directly from the Robinson family and is accompanied by an LOA from Sugar Ray Robinson's son.
