Jack Powell, famed chief of Pacific Coast League umpires, received a Hall of Fame award from Helms Athletic Foundation in 1951. This lot includes pieces of Powell’s game-used equipment from the 1940 era. 1) Dark blue umpire's uniform cap listed in the Helms inventory as his. 2) 1940s PCL umpire patch which must have been originally on his uniform (3"). 3) A display glove with affixed ball; glove and ball are well worn, ball shows significant soiling. Glove has a silk label with Scully Bros. Los Angeles and measures 10" in diameter. Not sure whose this was. 4) Steel plated pair of baseball spikes could be PCL as well but no guarantees. This lot is from the collection of the esteemed Helms Hall Sports Museum and will come with letter of provenance/authenticity from Lelands.com. NOTE: Some or all of these pieces could be from major events, used by important players and from "famous" donors. Many of the Helms pieces were unidentified with their source information having been lost through the years. However, through photo analysis we have been able to determine items previously unidentified by Helms to be very important artifacts. Do your own research and you may have some real treasures here.
