1946-47 Minnie Minoso Maianao Tigers Game Worn Jersey

1946-47 Minnie Minoso Maianao Tigers Game Worn Jersey

Gray flannel Marianao Tigers jersey was worn by Minnie Minoso during the 1946-47 season of the Cuban Winter League. Minoso was the first black player to don a Chicago White Sox uniform, surely one of the all time greats in Sox history, and a baseball phenomenon who played in seven decades. And this jersey, adorned with “Tigres” in arched black lettering across the chest and the number he wore that season, “17” on the verso is a unique and most important find. Minoso was 17 years old when he signed his first contract, which may be the reason why he wore the number “17” that season. The jersey shows great use and wear. It looks to have gotten plenty of use, stained with stadium dirt even after having been washed repeatedly (color faded in a few spots). Collar tagging is completely worn away.
