1938 Martin Dihigo Batting Champion Ring
He possessed a talent so rare and awesome, that he crossed over into Cooperstown from the Negro Leagues. His name was Martin Dihigo and he resides in history as the greatest Cuban ballplayer who ever lived. This one-of-a-kind ring, carved out of ivory, sporting engraved image of an eagle and the name, “Dihigo” on top was presented to Dihigo in 1938 by the Mexican League. That season, while playing for the Vera Cruz Aguilas (Eagles), Dihigo earned his title as batting champion, with an average of .387. Engravings were once painted red, only remnants of which remain.
