1952 Floyd Patterson Pasport Used For Helsinki Olympics

1952 Floyd Patterson Pasport Used For Helsinki Olympics

Floyd Patterson became the youngest World Heavyweight Champion at age 21, and four years earlier, he captured Olympic Gold in Helsinki, Finland. This is the passport the North Carolina native used for that trip, issued in 1952. It features a very early blue ink (9/10) signature on the inside, as well as a photo of Patterson with another signature (7/10). The ID has Helsinki-stamped validation and was cancelled (bottom right hand corner and seal have been clipped), otherwise VG-EX. Patterson defeated Omar Tebakka, Leonardus Jansen, Stig Sjolin and Vasile Tita to grab the gold.
