1953 World Champion New York Yankees Silver Tray
The 1953 Yankees achieved something no other major league club has accomplished before or since - captured a fifth straight world championship, three of which came at the expense of the rival Brooklyn Dodgers. From that 99-52 season comes this 13” silver tray that was created as a presentational item. There are 37 engraved signatures on display here, including Mantle, Rizzuto, Berra, Mize, Crosetti, Stengel and Martin, The signatures surround a team logo engulfed by the roman numeral V, “1953 World Champions” and the other four recent title years. Etched with stitching details, the tray has some tarnish which could be easily cleaned but frankly adds rich patina. It was presented exclusively to players and team officials and is a dazzling piece. You used to see these regularly but they are officially rare now.
