1958 Indianapolis 500 Flags Gifted to Winner Jimmy Bryan (Gasper LOA)

1958 Indianapolis 500 Flags Gifted to Winner Jimmy Bryan (Gasper LOA)

Historic set of seven flags were all used during the 1958 Indianapolis 500. Beautiful displays are complete with wooden base. The checkered flag is signed by legendary flagman Bill Vandewater and inscribed to winner Jimmy Bryan ON THE DAY HE WON, "To Jim Bryan, Bill Vandewater, May 30 1958." Also comes with signed photo of Bill Vanderwater and the Letter of Authenticity is signed by Len Gasper and Jimmy Bryan's father R.L. "Pete" Bryan. This comes from the private collection of Len Gasper. Jimmy Bryan was, of course, the winner that fateful day. The race featured a young rookie by the name of A. J. Foyt, who made his Indy debut, practiced early in the month, but withdrew when he could not get up to speed. However, the race is best known for the massive first-lap, 15-car pileup that resulted in the death of fan-favorite Pat O'Connor.
