1960 Cassius Clay Rome Olympic Champion Ring

1960 Cassius Clay Rome Olympic Champion Ring

The Muhammad Ali mythology begins here, with the young Cassius Clay in Rome. After rising above the blue grass of Kentucky the Amateur champ was ready for the greatest test of all - the Olympic Games. On the Italian soil, wise-cracking Clay won the Gold in the Light Heavyweight division. Upon his return to America, Clay turned pro and the rest as they say is history. 10-karat gold ring is stamped on inside, "Rome 1960," with the "IGO" makers mark as well. Left shank has “Gold Medal” in raised text and image of hanging gloves, while right shank has raised text that reads “Rome 1960,” and two Olympic torches. Red stone on top, with “Muhammad Ali - Cassius Clay” surrounding that in raised text. This gorgeous ring was made at a later date and did not belong to Clay. NRMT.
