Muhammad Ali 1981 "3-Time Champion" Worn Robe

Muhammad Ali 1981 "3-Time Champion" Worn Robe

On September 15, 1978 Muhammad Ali defeated Leon Spinks to become the first man in the history of boxing to win the World Heavyweight title on three separate occasions. To commemorate this historic feat, Ali would have this robe made up which would illustrate the accomplishment. Presented is the robe worn and used by Muhammad Ali during training for his last fight as a professional against Trevor Berbick in 1981. This beautiful black velvet robe by Everlast has terrycloth lining and hood. There are wide sleeves to accommodate the gloves. No sash. On the reverse in white script lettering is sewn, "Muhammad Ali 3 Time World Heavyweight Champion." Heavy use to the interior lining. Exterior remains in beautiful condition. The robe is offered with an LOA from Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. who researched the robe for our sale. Mr. Hamilton dated the robe to 1981 and states, "the wear in the robe would indicate it was used in training or during appearances such as workouts open to the public." This robe is one of the most beautiful robes of this great champion to be offered at public sale.
