By mid-June, 1962, former Olympic Gold Medalist and rising Heavyweight star Cassius Clay was already making plenty of noise in the division. He had reeled off 14 consecutive victories with his latest victim being Billy Daniels, whom he dispatched in 7 rounds a month earlier. Clay took time out from his training for his next fight against Argentine Alejandro Lavorante to sign this photograph. The photo pictures a very young Cassius Clay and sports a bold image in fight pose. It is signed in blue ballpoint pen on the white border, "June 17-1962 To Vince From Cassius Clay Good Luck 1962 Next Champ By 1964." Some minor edge wear is detectable but no creasing. Measures 4" x 10". Signed vintage photos of Cassius Clay are rare, but one containing this prophecy is unheard of. From the collection of Vince Handley. You will not find one better.
