1964 Cassius Clay Signed "Liston in 8 Rounds" Photo (4x8")
Although its size is small, its meaning is huge. No fighter in history has ever dominated with the charisma and political influence as Muhammad Ali. No fighter in history was ever cocky enough to be the self-proclaimed, “Greatest.” And no fighter has ever gained the respect that Ali did, by making good on his proclamations and predictions. As you can see with the vintage signature here from Cassius Clay, the Sonny Liston fight was no exception. So far in his career, Clay had not been defeated by any fighter he faced. Preparing for the fight that would propel Cassius Clay to stardom, he has signed with the conviction that he will take the fight in the 8th round, and inscribed it to his sparring partner from whose collection this item came: “To Alonzo [Johnson] from Cassius Clay, Good luck. Liston in 8 rounds.” As we know, Clay won that fight by TKO in round 7. Black ballpoint signature grades a “9” out of a possible 10. Framed to 6x14”. EX-MT.
