1966 "Sanford" Koufax & Don Drysdale Signed Contracts

1966 "Sanford" Koufax & Don Drysdale Signed Contracts

Long before it became commonplace, a pair of future Hall of Fame pitchers took a stand. Dodgers Don Drysdale and Sandy Koufax held out before the start of the 1966 season and retained the services of prominent entertainment lawyer J. William Hayes to represent them. Included herein is correspondence between Hayes and Dodger General Manager EG "Buzzy" Buvasi, as well as copies of the contracts that were eventually signed by both Drysdale and "Sanford" Koufax, as well as Buvasi. The signatures all average approximately 8.5/10 and the letters and contracts are in Excellent condition. While the dollar amount isn't listed on either contract, a separate letter from Hays confirms that both pitchers broke the six-figure mark as a result of the negotiations.
