1968-69 Roberto Clemente Signed Game Worn San Juan Senadores Cap Given to Jorge Posada

1968-69 Roberto Clemente Signed Game Worn San Juan Senadores Cap Given to Jorge Posada

Anything tied to Puerto Rican Hall of Famer, Roberto Clemente is worthy of a thousand praises, but this cap, which has changed hands from Clemente, to Puerto Rican born Jorge Posada, from Posada’s father, is an unparalleled piece of his legacy, attached to the most impeccable provenance. The navy cap with red brim, with embroidered “SJ” in white thread on the front was worn for Puerto Rican Winter League games by Roberto Clemente in San Juan. This was once part of a complete uniform given to the father of current New York Yankees pitcher, Jorge Posada. Posada’s father gave the hat to his son while he was still a young lad, aspiring to play ball. The most amazing part to this phenomenal piece is what is written under the visor in black marker. The first inscription is a block letter signature from Clemente reading, “Clemente 21” (21 was of course his legendary number worn with the Pirates). Underneath that is “Jorge Luis”, penned by Jorge Posada as a young boy. There is unbelievable history and prominence in this fabulous piece from his native Puerto Rico. Shows great use and wear, through and through with plenty of wear to the inside leather band. Tagged, “The Leslie Company.”
