1968 St. Louis Cardinals Tour of Japan Collection

1968 St. Louis Cardinals Tour of Japan Collection

A contingent of 64 Cardinals players, coaches, front office personnel and wives made a goodwill tour of Japan a week after losing the 1968 World Series to the Tigers. Red Schoendienst's wife, Mary, collected these keepsakes during the trip. Among them: tons of paper items including a colorful ticket to a game, brochures, receipts (some signed), travel documents, magazines, letters and more. There's even a letter sent to Red and Mary when they were overseas. There's a stunning kimono worn by Red and specifically made for the Cardinals, an ornamental umbrella, terrific tea set (some cracks), team-signed baseball from the Yomiuri Giants (NRMT), ornamental photo album (empty), set of high-quality chopsticks in the box, a beautiful presentational medal with ribbon and more.
