1975 Bill Madlock Chicago Player of the Year Award
Third baseman Bill Madlock captured the first of his four batting titles in 1975 while playing for his second team, the Chicago Cubs. Here's the plaque he was awarded by the Chicago Chapter of the Baseball Writers' of America - otherwise known as the Carmichael Trophy - for his .354 season on the North Side. The wood-based award measures 12x12" and contains a Balfour tag on the back which reads: "A product of the L.G. Balfour CO. Attleboro. Mass." Enamel BBWA logo. A smart souvenir from one of the best all-around hitters of his generation. Obtained directly from a Madlock associate and is the first time in years it has resurfaced.
