1976 Muhammad Ali Fight Robe from Coopman Fight
On February 20, 1976 Muhammad Ali successfully defended his heavyweight title stopping Jean Pierre Coopman in 5 rounds at San Juan, Puerto Rico. The fight was a completely one sided affair with Ali completely dominating the man known as "The Lion of Flanders." Presented here is the robe worn by Ali in this fight. The robe is a full length white satin with red and green trim. The robe's sash is intact. On the reverse in green block lettering is sewn, "Muhammad Ali." On the front left breast pocket there is a manufacturer's tag for Everlast which includes the additional logo, "Made Expressly for Muhammad Ali." The robe is in fine condition. Moderate wear with no noticeable flaws. The robe was originally part of the collection of Drew "Bundini" Brown, Ali's famous cornerman who was present during this fight in the corner. Muhammad Ali can be seen wearing the robe in the fight film from the event. A scarce opportunity to purchase an actual fight worn robe used by the man known simply as "The Greatest." Offered with an LOA from Craig Hamilton of JO Sports, Inc. who researched the item for this sale.
