19th Century Baseballs w/Civil War Era Ball from 1860s Estate (4)

19th Century Baseballs w/Civil War Era Ball from 1860s Estate (4)

Baseball’s vast history harkens back to the days of the United States' worst internal conflict, that of the Civil War, as do these primitive baseballs. 1) CIVIL WAR BASE BALL emanates originally from an old house with all inside dating from the Civil War! Discovered in the Baltimore/DC area. 2) 1870s figure 8 baseball with full stitching and a completely intact surface. 3) 1880s figure 8 baseball with full stitching with moderate surface wear but no cracking of the still somewhat supple outer leather cover. 4) 1880s figure 8 baseball with some loose or missing stitching, but with no sight of any inside material. Potent collection of 19th Century baseballs would be a great beginning or a completion to a vintage collection.
