1/20/70 Louis Armstrong ALS
One can almost feel the boyish exuberance and innocence as Satchmo gushes about a recent appearance on The Dick Cavett Show to his old friend Erich Kauffmann not long before Louis' passing in 1971. "I thought that you and the family would like to have it," he writes, enclosing a videotape. The horn man also continues the fascinating obssesion he seemed to have with a lip salve manufactured by Kauffmann, noting "I am always relaxed when I have a lot of lip salve. And for God's sake, you must make it forever." It ends, "Goodnight, Satchmo, Louis Armstrong." Signature is 9/10. Plain paper, 8 x 11", slight yellow tinge, gentle fold marks. Original envelope. EX.
