Amazing Circa 1907 Chicago Cubs Shoe Polish Tin Store Display

Amazing Circa 1907 Chicago Cubs Shoe Polish Tin Store Display

Now that the "curse" has been lifted, Chicago Cubs memorabilia from over a century ago has new context. Case in point: this rare shoe polish tin used as a store display in the Windy City that is the only one of its kind known to exist. The colorful, 10"-tall artifact is exquisite in its detail and features a uniformed baby bear with a brush in his right paw and shoe on his left. Underneath him reads: "BOX UN-LOX" and "LIFT THE LEVER" above the two tins (left one open and lidless, right one intact). On the base is the message: "BELIEVE ME - CUB SHOE POLISH IS THE BEST IN THIS TOWN." This display ad sat on the counter beckoning consumers to sample the polish. A matching advertising pin is affixed to this major piece. The 1.5" litho showcases our seated cub once again polishing his shoes. There are some surface scratches and moderate edge wear, plus a slight bend but otherwise is in EX condition. The tins are rare and the display is impossible!
