Babe Ruth "Called Shot" Game Home Run Wire Photo

Babe Ruth "Called Shot" Game Home Run Wire Photo

The World Series in 1932 saw the Yankees led by the Babe taking on the Cubs. Chicago fans hated the Babe and he was not particularly fond of them. They jeered and spat on him and his wife as they entered and left their hotel. In the first inning of Game 3, Ruth hit a three-run homer off pitcher Charlie Root that further incensed the Cubs fans. This is a photo (8 x 10") of Ruth watching that home run from home plate. When he came to bat again in the fifth he silenced the extremely nasty crowd by smashing the longest home run that had ever been hit at Wrigley Field. Whether he really called it ahead of time is not clear. What is clear that he was victorious over his tormentors at Wrigley. Photo is in Excellent condition.
