Babe Ruth at Gehrig's Coffin Photo
The ineffable tragedy of Lou Gehrig's death can be seen in this moving photo of Babe Ruth paying his last respects at the Iron Horse's open casket following Gehrig's death. The Acme wire photo dated June 3, 1941 shows a crestfallen Ruth lost in thought, looking into the flower-banked coffin in Christ Episcopal Church in Riverdale, New York, possibly ruing the feud the two great Yankees had during their playing days. The rare 8 x10" photo has an paper caption on back. Couple of minor border creases o/w EX-MT.
