Babe Ruth Signed Hillerich & Bradsby Ad
His finger points out towards home run country at Chicago’s Wrigley Field, and, down two strikes, the Babe slams one out of the park at the 1932 World Series -- a legend already, his light shines now brighter, and who better to claim some of the glory, but the piece of lumber in his hands, the Louisville Slugger, made by Hillerich & Bradsby, who in this black and white ad recounts in high drama that brilliant move and how “Louisville Sluggers have helped to furnish every great batting thrill.” Babe's homer was the furthest hit ball up to that point ever in the Cubs home park, and to add insult, Gehrig slammed one to right field and out of the park right after Ruth; the Yanks would win that 3rd game, and take the series the next day. Originally in an early 1940’s Famous Slugger Yearbook, the ad is graced with Babe Ruth’s 10/10 pitch black ink signature painted flawlessly along his stretched leg as he moves to run to first base after his tremendous center field “called shot.” A solid penning from the man, and the myth. Page measures 6 ¾ x 4 ½”.
