Circa 1976 Jan van Breda Kolff New York Nets ABA Game Worn Warmup Jacket (Breda Kolff LOA)

Jan van Breda Kolff is the son of Butch van Breda Kolff, who played for the New York Knicks, and coached many teams, including Princeton University and the Los Angeles Lakers. Jan played two seasons in the ABA, playing a year with the Denver Nuggets and splitting a season between the Virginia Squires and the Kentucky Colonels. He played seven seasons in the NBA, playing for the New York Nets in 1976-1977, and then staying with the Nets from 1977-1983 when the team moved to New Jersey. Jan was a 6'7" small forward who both started and came off the bench and he averaged 6.2 PPG for his pro career. From the Jan Van Breda Kolff Collection. the red warm-up jacket shows a blue "Jan" nameplate on the back, but there is evidence of at least two different names being on the jersey before Jan. The inside neck is tagged "13", with Rawlings size 46 and "1' Longer". The blue Nets logo is on the front. The jersey shows great wear, particularly on the six metallic snaps down the middle front as each snap shows much of the initial red color worn off to exhibit just metal. If this warm-up jacket's use dates to the 1976-77 season, that would be the first season that the Nets were in the NBA. The jersey has vintage appeal as it dates from around the time of the NBA/ABA merger in 1976.
