Cy Young’s 1889 Personal Autograph Book with Earliest Know Signature
Beautiful autograph book not only has the earliest known Cy Young signature in it, but was also owned by the legendary pitcher, as it was given to him by his mother when he was a young man. It has a short note penned by the sport’s most-celebrated pitcher seven pages in, and reads, “I keep this book for all my friends; To write and create their thoughts; May all of you with graceful heart, Write something for me; That will never part.” He dates this inscription January 7th, 1889, and signs “Denton Young.” Contains plenty of wishes to “Dent” within its velvet and maroon-colored cover and back. Cover has title “Autographs” in gold.
