Don Drysdale 58 Consecutive Scoreless Innings Program
On a Saturday night in Los Angeles, Don Drysdale made major league history against the Philadelphia Phillies, establishing the longest shutout innings streak at 58, and this very rare program from that game on June 8, 1968 documents the feat perfectly. It is neatly scored in pencil with notations concerning the record, such as "DALRYMPLE STRIKES OUT TO TIE THE RECORD," "PENA GROUNDS OUT TO BREAK THE RECORD" and "PINCH HITTER BIDELL BREAKS SCORELESS RECORD WITH SACRIFICE FLY SCORING TONY TAYLOR." The scorebook is in VG condition and comes with the June 17 issue of Sports Illustrated with Drysdale on the cover. The Hall of Fame right-hander had tossed a record six consecutive shutouts heading into that ballgame, which he won, 5-3.
