Eddie Plank's Masonic Sword with Belts
Eddie Plank is considered one of Baseball's elite, with a career in Major League Baseball that spanned more than 16 years. Nicknamed "Gettysburg Eddie," he was the first left-handed pitcher to win 200 games and then 300 games, and now ranks third in all-time wins among left-handers with 326 career victories. His playing prowess earned him a spot in the Hall of Fame as well as a spot on MLB's All Century team. This lot is Eddie Plank's Masonic sword and belts which are in overall EX condition. The sword which measures 36" in its sheath is ornately carved with iconic free mason imagery. The handle is ivory and has beautiful scrimshaw etching with his initials and other decorative patterning. The sword itself is also replete with detailed etching and Masonic symbols with his full name Edward S. Plank, etched into the center of the sword. The two belts each have his name embossed on the inside and vary in condition with some minor tearing of the fabric and evidence of age wear and tear. This lot is an incredible example of freemason history from one of the early 20th century's greatest MLB pitchers.
