Exceptional 1880's Baseball Trophy

Acid etched beauty is one of the finer trophies you will see. Stands 9" tall. Lid is opened to expose double-reinforced receptacle. The lid is decorated with flowery design across the sweet spot. On the full panel is a scene of a batter, catcher and pitcher of expert period craftsmanship and lovely quality. This baseball (we have never seen one like it) stands on a base of three crossed bats. Bottom is hallmarked "Rogers & Bro…Triple Plate." The engraved image of etching is known as "acid etching" and is a lost beautiful art. Pieces of this type are exceptional. Dated through provenance, style and hallmark. EX+.
